Hello, I'm trying to remove the sector gear inside the steering pedestal of my late fathers 1944 WC. The gear sure is stubborn to get off the shaft and I hate to pull too hard on it for fear of breaking something. I've tried a 3-jaw puller and also applying some heat. Would you guys have an idea for me to get this baby off the shaft? I really need to replace the seals to prevent the pedestal from leaking all over the place! Thank you in advance!  |

I found it easier to remove the shaft assy and pull out the top, best I remember there is a set screw holding that gear on too  ------------- Allis Express North Georgia 41 WC,48 UC Cane,7-G's, Ford 345C TLB |

Thanks for your reply Joe. I removed that set screw before trying to remove the gear. Wow! I never thought of removing the shaft and gear out the top as an assembly! That solves my whole problem! Many thanks Joe!! |

That's what I did on my WD too. Never had any reason to pull that gear off so I never touched it when I welded up the worn bearing area towards the bottom of the shaft. ------------- 1939 B, 1940 B, 1941 WC, 1951 WD, 1952 CA, 1956 WD-45 |
