Got the 7040 that I've been working on some in the field finally. Was in for PD seals, but did a torque limiter as well. Tried as I may, I could not get it to slip. I followed the procedure in the book, which does not explicitly say that it must slip, but either stall the tractor or slip it. I ran it on a large square baler afterwards, as that was the plan, and thought that may have gotten some slip out of it, but I can't guarantee it. What are your thoughts on this situation? Other thing is that I converted it to bottom draw, and installed a Facet electric lift pump, that is rated for 9-11.5 PSI. From what I could find this is within limits. It ran for about 10 hrs driving it home before the fuel pump was installed, but now I have fuel in the oil after running for around 3 hrs. I assume that the shaft seal is leaking, and am also aware that it is very old, so it may well be hard and ready to leak. Should I just replace the seal? Is there a possibility that the return is plugged, causing this? The tractor ran great, had great power, though I wouldn't say throttle adjustments were as snappy as I'd expect, unless you snapped it from low to high idle, then it seemed very responsive. Last thing, my dad operated a 7040 back when they were only a few years old. He seems to remember that the shift pattern was different, but they broke a couple forks trying to shift into 5th gear on the road (shift on the go), before they stopped trying to do that. Were there different shift patterns produced, and can this tractor, in your experience, be shifted while moving, if done correctly? Kind of lengthy, thank you in advance. |

| In the past 2 years? Tbran gave a good explanationof how to shift a PD on the roll. I tried it on my 8070 and it worked! Problem is I can't remember how it went. For sure you have to stay in low side of PD when doing it. If you have a foot throttle it would work better. 8000's don't. |

Thank you. I did find a post by Dr.Allis from 2023 I think. I don't currently have a working tach, but I'll try to find 1700 RPM off the PTO with a hand held contact tach.

| Torque limiter seating involves the engine at FULL throttle and moving along in a gear selection of 10 MPH. Place your right foot on the locked brake pedals and just take the slack out of things to make the engine begin to work. Then, stand on the brakes HARD (and hold them hard) to stall the rear wheels. If the rear wheels stop, let up on the brakes and maybe do it again a time or two. Mission accomplished. |

I don't think the Roosa Master pumps like electric fuel pumps. Previous owner put an electric pump on a D15 diesel I bought earlier this year and it is leaking diesel into the oil (injector pump was rebuilt last year). I removed the electric pump, but it still leaks into the oil. I think the pressure from the electric pump ruined the umbrella seals. I didn't check the pressure on my electric pump, but 11 psi seems rather high in your case.
