Cost I guess? Plus wouldn't their be a need for more HP to turn a differential rather than a centrifugal clutch? And maybe a transmission or at least gear box of some sort?

Like Henry Ford said. If I can make it cheaper and people will still buy it, all that much more profit for me.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.

too much HP for one wheel.... need the traction of 2 tires... slide thru the corners anyway... dont want the additionaal weight..

Steve is right.  Usually two much HP for one wheel.  I raced them back when i was a teen and still build them occasionally.  My Grandsons each have one here on the farm.  I took one for a ride when I first built them.  Never again!!  Too fast for me at my age!

No race car has diff. At least not conventional diff. Low budget guys weld them up. Or you use a spool to tie both axles together. Diff is there only to transfer the power and get the right rpm on each track. So we change the diff for each different track. Most guys have a dozen or so Ford nine inch in the hauler. Or you use a quick change if allowed. Then you just have to change two small spur gears- bout 5 min deal. You would just smoke one wheel with a regular diff.

Can't drift with a one wheel wonder and tear up as much yard. Oh does that bring back memories of the original Honda Odyssey's back in the day, had one second hand for a short stint then traded it for a demo car oh to be young again and know half the stuff I know now. But the demo cars were as much fun building as they were running.
