A family business destroyed, but what of the rest of the community that did business with them. This was the last place in a 100 miles that bought and sold grain, and made livestock feed.

Yes seed will be available, as well as feed. But as farmer if you plant a 100 acres what do you do with less than a semi load of grain. How far do your go with your 30, 40, even 50 year old 2 ton truck ? This is more or less the end of a era in my option.

I have already retired from grain farming. Last harvest was in 15. But what about others that have been hobby farming ?  As you all know 500 acres of wheat is not really going to make a living anymore. Dryland barley, oats, safflower, and wheat are the crops that grow here. Wine grapes have taken 70% of what was grain before 1970. Country homes, pasture, and CRP has taken more. County crop report says less than 20,000 acres of grain in the county. The ones over 1000 acres will probably continue. But those others who knows.

Loss of Elevator storage in small villages around here lent to installations of bins on Owners properties.  Then would hire out having grain hauled the Distances noted.
