was out looking for a replacement clutch, I am rebuilding one of my 3 WD45 engines and was thinking while in there, as I do on automotive applications, replace the clutch.  Great idea until I seen the cost of them from Steiner, DJ's, etc....anyone know of other options?  I am not set on replacing the clutch, but more of prevention.  the engine in the tractor has a worn out main clutch, the two other engines I have I got out of the machines so unknown condition but Ill inspect all 3 and use the best one if I cant find a more reasonable alternative.  $400-500 for a clutch kit seems very steep, but maybe thats the going rate.

Also, eventually I will have 2 WD45 gas engines for sale, Ill post them when the time is right.

I think that is going rate now.  25% tariffs on most all auto-parts importing. Not sure where those clutch kits are made exactly?  I work in the auto parts industry (mainly collision parts), and every part we bring in is subject to 25% tariff upon entry into customs.

Slightly off topic, but I was pricing a radiator for my 1953 Chevy truck project and it went up $250 since last year.  My mistake for not buying it sooner.

Is your pressure plate cracked or anything? There are places that can resurface the pressure plate and flywheel and even rebuild the clutch disc.

Southbend Clutch and Fort Wayne clutch are a couple local ones for me in Indiana.

SouthBen clutch rebuild the pressure plate on my 185 a few years ago and I had no complaints. I put in a new AGCO clutch disc. I've had no complaints but I heard of a local delaer that has had trouble with South Bend clutches rebuilt clutch discs.
