The diesel engine in my d17 went totally kaput.
I replaced it with a 262g engine from a Gleaner combine.
It runs great, but with the combine governor and carburetor it's pretty much full blast or a very fast idle.
What do I need to do to the governor to make it work like a tractor?
Besides a d19 carburetor what other parts do I need?
I assume I need to change something in the governor but what and how I don't know.
Thanks.

You don't need to change the carburetor. It will work as it is. It might be the larger 190XT Bendix version, but it will still work. The parts you need are specifically for a D-19 tractor governor. Some of you talented fabricators could make these parts and offer a "kit" for these engine swaps. The pieces are on top of the governor itself and swing the tension spring around in an arc to change the tension which changes the engine speed.

Too late now but the front cover, governor, etc off a Cockshutt,40,50 or 30 are a bolt on fit and works exactly like you need.Have done several of them

The Gleaner combine front cover has an ear for the governor spring eyebolt to mount to. This is easily cut off with a hack saw, so the timing cover isn't an issue. The bell crank (and its related parts) for the adjustable engine speed feature is the missing part.

Excellent!
If I understand correctly what I need to do is find and or fabricate the external parts of the governor?
I have some pictures of what the parts should look like so that is a start.
Thanks for the information!
Does anyone happen to have the needed pieces in their collection they would like to part with?

Everything you need is external and bolt on parts if you can find them. A bracket (74513571), a shoulder bolt (74514821), and a speed change lever (74514825 and 74514826) are the part numbers only on a D-19 tractor. The link rod from the steering wheel would be one more part but I think you can modify the diesel link rod to work.
