We have a 8550 that the rear turbo started smoking and will not clear out even when it’s at operating temp and has what we think is a miss on one of the rear cylinders. Is it worth fixing the Allis engine or repower with a Cummins.

If it was as simple as changing out one injector, why wouldn't you fix it ?? Looks like some good diagnosis is needed.

Haven’t dug to deep into it yet. It looked like more of blue smoke, like oil. I was thinking it was probably rings. Was going to check for bubbles in the antifreeze and make sure it wasn’t that to.

Dad had a 4w305 that started smoking out the front pipe. It was a lifter, cam lobe, blued and bent push rods, and adjusting screws.

On the rocker arm shaft, grind the smallest of grove from the oil holes @ 4:00 up to 2 & 10:00. That will make it easier for oil to come up and out the rockers and down to the adjusting screws, push rods, lifters, and cam. Also which to green dot rubbers on injector lines. Very best of luck!!!
