| remove the pan. might be easier if wheel is shifted out |

I replaced the oil in the final drives on my D-17 a few years ago. Dropped the pans and made new gaskets. I did have the wheels moved out. I chose to fill the pans before installing them but you could fill thru the fill plug as well.  Not a big job.

I changed mine 2 years ago, according to the smell it was the original oil. Really stunk. New gaskets and put a clear hose attached to the oil bottle and refilled through the filler hole until it was to that level. ------------- 1968 B-208, 1976 720 (2 of them)Danco brush hog, single bottom plow,52" snow thrower, belly mower,rear tine tiller, rear blade, front blade, 57"sickle bar,1983 917 hydro, 1968 7hp sno-bee, 1968 190XTD |

I did what Bryan did on my WD a few years back. Just make sure if you prefill the pan that you don't overdo it because the bull gear displaces a lot of oil in that pan as you put the pan back into place! ------------- 1939 B, 1940 B, 1941 WC, 1951 WD, 1952 CA, 1956 WD-45 |
