Need wiring diagram for a 12 volt negative ground system with a generator  and voltage regulator.   Current system not charging battery.

.

Some setups need the generator to spin at higher rpm to charge the field windings and charge the battery.

That got me on one tractor (Ferguson 35) so I rewired with new generator with internal regulator, new coil with internal resistor, a new key switch and simpler reliable system.

My WD is stock 6V pos ground until it misbehaves. Then it gets 12v neg.
Tractor run switch or light switch are involved with charging cycle so verify the switches are ok. Then trace wires.

If Delco truck 12v one wire alternator was used on yours they often need a pin block added to run the fields and charge.

here is a generic diagrom of a GENERATOR with a REGULATOR..... you can mark either battery teminal + or neg..... still wired the same..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

one test is to take a JUMPER WIRE and clip on the "F" terminal of the generator and GROUND it to the tractor frame/ engine... If that makes it charge, then your REGULATOR has a problem..... If you dont see the amp meter jump, then put a volt meter on the "A" terminal to ground and see if the GENERATOR is putting out voltage... and the regulator is bad.
