I have a New Idea 506 loader and it needs a new hydraylic control valve
The valve on there now may be the original valve and there are no model numbers
I would like to install a after market two spool valve but l dont know what to order
Northern tool is very close to my home and they have a number of valves shown on their website  Any help would be appreciated

What is the machine doing to make you think the control valve is worn out? I have a lot of old to very old equipment. I have thought the valves were bad on my junk, but 90% of the time it ends up the seals on the piston in the hydraulic cylinder are the problem. They are cheap in most time in comparison to a valve.

If you really need a valve you need the gallons per minute of the pump you have and how much pressure it is able to make.  Then a valve able to handle your GPM and PSI, or more and all is good.

Look up your tractor's specs on the internet, or in your manual.  You need to know the series of your d-17.  Once you have the flow (GPM) and pressure, (PSI), go to surplus center.com, and look for valves...Wink

Any "live" hydraulic pump on any D-17 shouldn't exceed 12 GPM at full throttle. Pressures wouldn't exceed 2400 psi either. We are talking about a 2-way "all hydraulic" loader with tilt cylinders on the bucket, right ??

so it is a D17 series 4
The tubes bucket are not leaking
One tube on the lift are is leaking just a bit but the lift works just fine for now
The bucket will curl up and then steadyly fall back down  and if l lift the bucket
about waist high and sit on it it will collapse

That is correct,  the tubes on the bucket curl are not leaking

It would be foolish to replace the factory OEM valve stack with some aftermarket/cobbled up hydraulic valve. If you can (and you may not be able to) swap the bucket hoses over to the other set of couplers. Or, you could roll the bucket clear back and just unplug the hoses to the bucket while rolled back.  Bucket still settles???  it's not the valve. Reseal the bucket cylinders. They are leaking INTERNALLY, not externally.
