Oil Pump Shaft Wear. 1966 Allis-Chalmers D-17 Series IV Gas Serial No. 81578 (226 cu. in. - 4-cylinder engine).  The oil pump shaft has 14/1000 wear on the bottom end next to the pump gear and 10/1000 wear at the top of the shiny wear area. The shiny wear area is 4.986 inches long.  I am doing a major, out of frame, overhaul.  What do I need to do?  KY D-17

Find a used oil pump in better condition. Find a used engine (with flow oiling system) to harvest a hopefully good oil pump. There are no new parts available. You have to depend on salvage yards for parts like this. Pay careful attention to any used pump making sure it is the SAME EXACT pump body with the same gear tooth count at the camshaft gear location.

Alex at A&W thinks he has a good one, they are going to take the shaft out and measure the wear today.  Thank you for your help, as always.
