Who has expertise on these Allis TL12 Rockford axles (tag says: TS50 11 X8)? Working on the rear steerable axle and the top bushing is gone. What is not clear to me is what keeps this upper bushing (#38) from walking down and being eaten by the driveshaft. They show item #36 as a plug. I wonder if this is simply an expansion/Welch plug. Has anyone sourced these bushings from a Rockford/Axletech/Meritor supplier? This comes from someone who has never seen one so judge the worth! I'd think that such a bush should have to be pressed in and that would be enough to hold it in place. So has the inner surface of the hole it goes in ben damaged? And being close to the U-joint the plug might be to prevent the spinning joint throwing sand and gravel at it? |

| The old Rockford Axles in every machine that used them Did use a reverse acting 'Welch Plug' but took a specialized Driver to properly seat those. Have not seen one in years nor that style axle as been LONG since Discontinued. |

The bushings are not flanged, correct? I have zero experience either, but I'd say they either have to be flanged, have a very good press fit, or use that plug like was said above to retain them. ------------- 1939 B, 1940 B, 1941 WC, 1951 WD, 1952 CA, 1956 WD-45 |

Hi guys-Of all things, I have a 2nd TL12. I took that axle apart last night and it is intact. The bushing has a 1/16" wall with no flange pressed into the axle. There is an expansion plug at the bottom of the bushing that is there probably with a purpose of preventing the bushing from walking towards the axle shaft. ------------- D19D, D17D, WD, WC, Snobee, #83 Plow, SC Blade, 14' disk, 400 series planter, B , Terra Tiger, M Dozer w/Baker Blade, TL-12, 42S Grader, G |
