Just changed the oil (10W-30) and filter (Fram C159) in my unstyled WC. Ran it to warm up the oil just before draining the oil, and oil pressure reading was mid-range (about the "r" in "Normal") but barely into normal range after changing the oil. Oil is up to the full mark. The filter had been sitting on the shelf for several years.

The one odd thing is that the center pipe came out with the old filter. I tapped it until it "seated" when I reinstalled it. Might that be the cause of the low reading? Thanks!

If you tap it in too far it will cut the flow to the gauge

It states in the operators manual, oil press will read lower until the filter is fully saturated. With only 1/5th of the oil flowing through the filter, it takes a bit to get the press back up.

the PRESSURE is made by BACK PRESSURE from the filter. New filters have very little restriction and therefore LESS pressure shows on the gauge... Couple good notes above.. dont push the 1/4 inch tube too deep, and let the filter saturate for 30 minutes before you get a GOOD pressure reading.. If the filter was STUFFED COTTON style like the OLD ONE then it is fine.. Being on the shelf did not hurt it.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Thanks, guys. I pulled the center tube and reseated it higher in its hole. Pressure now reads close to the "R". I much appreciate your help!
