With number stamps, you can have any serial number you like. Just ask the brothers from Gadsden, AL. They snookerd a sucker by selling him a tractor with a serial number of 1 and even made up a certificate that they had notarized. If you read the plow peddler you'll understand the the #1 of this model was nothing more than a mockup that hardly was anything like the production units. with #2, #3, #4 being preproduction models with engineering changes. #6 was the first production unit. Strangely this upside down #1 unit looks exactly like any production model, it even has options that were not available in the first years of production of this model. Bottom line a serial number means very little beyond identifying where running production changes were made. How ever if that gets you excited, go for it.
------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

A D-21 chassis serial number of 1001 (that is the first production serial number) would then have had a very early engine serial number, somewhere between 3D-1001 and 3D-1010. I actually saw D-21 tractor number 1003 or 1004 about 40 years ago (30 miles from my house in the weeds) and the engine number wasn't an exact match but very close. So, to make up a serial number in the case of any D-21, you'd have to also make an engine serial number tag. I don't believe there is anything fraudulent going on here. I recently found a 220-1012 and no one has altered that chassis number.

Darryl did his due diligence and researched these tractors thoroughly. I trust Darryl and know he is a stand up guy and wouldn't misrepresent anything he is promoting, selling.
