Anybody ever used a Hance Vac-A-Way seed cleaner/fanning mill? I picked this one up the other day hoping to use it for wheat and brome. It came with 8 screens (4 sets of 2). It looks like they also made them for Sears who called them "Farm Master."

In the off chance anyone has an old manual hanging around, please let me know.

Here's a video of it cleaning rye seed. A very basic cleaner. Set top screen size to allow good seed to fall thru it & discard any larger stems, heads, etc. Set bottom screen to sieve between large & medium seed sizes. Fan's air vacs off extemely light seeds / chaff.

Dad had one of those Hance cleaners and used it for clover and timothy seed for years. Guess it did an OK job since he kept using it. Think they were made in Westerville, Ohio.

I’ve had no luck searching internet for a manual for this seed cleaner. But I did find that Hance manufactured it for Vac-a-way(their brand), Sears, & David Bradley. So whoever is trying to locate a manual, maybe ask about all three?

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I did not know about the David Bradley ones so maybe I can do some more digging with that name. I've found a few references or posts about the Vac-A-Way and Sears branded ones on ag forums, and some YouTube videos, but nothing as far as manuals go.

This one supposedly came from a co-op in western Oklahoma and was used to clean grain samples to measure how much was good grain and how much was trash/weeds.

I have one. It’s a Sears. I used it to clean alfalfa seed. It worked okay for that.

Good afternoon, we also obtained a seed cleaner like yours. Unfortunately without some screens. Would it be possible for you to send me the pictures of the 4 sets screens. Pictures of the 2 screens that works together and if possible with the size of holes for each. I need this in order to see if we could make screens ourselves. The sizes of the frame will be helpful if you could send that with each screen set. Did you manage to get a manual? A copy will be fantastic. My email address is corriek14@gmail.com. Hope hearing from you soon. Regards Cornelia - we are from South Africa
