Hey guys, I've got a question for the Ford guys.
I have a 2015 Lariat with the 3.6 turbo and auto tranny.
I'm thinking about my brakes and wonder if they are electric or hydraulic?
Can I change them myself?
Do I need any special tools?

OR, should I just bite the bullet and let the dealer worry about it?

Opinions are GREATLY appreciated!!

I have a 2013 Lariat with the 3.5 Turbo .... and it has standard hydraulic brakes.. I just put new pads on the front end a month ago.... Just like doing a 1990 truck..

I think it is the THROTTLE you are thinking of for Electric...  Called "drive by wire".... i dont know a lot about it, but its electric ... i believe the steering is also electric.. over hydraulic.

Last summer I replaced the rear brakes and rotors on my Jeep . Rear brakes have electric parking brake so a small motor expands the pads out from caliper 
 To reset the unit , there is a program in the display screen you need to access to back off this motor . Then when done you need to re-enter instructions to reset the system . 
  Something about older cars where brake pliars , adjusting tool , and retainer spring to keep shoes in place seemed easy . But then so did replacing points and condenser in ignition . Seems now all that knowledge from way back is of no use now on vehicles .

yup, electric parking brakes..another 'fine' invention...

so battery goes dead, vehicle can't move..
same guy invented 'keyless' door locks ??!!!!

I understand the ideas...CHEAP to make, install, universal and HIGH PROFIT !!

BTW guess what happens when a push button start/stop keyfob battery goes dead while IN the car ??

idiots....

Ted I did my 2015 F150 a few years ago. You have to put the parking brake in service mode. Easy to do. Watch a tube video. I replaced the front rotors also. Not much different after that. You may be doing it in the snow now!!!!!

What happens is, you pop it open as designed, push it into the receptacle, and drive like normal.

Electric park brake is the best thing in automotive in the last 20 years. Those hat type e-brakes that GM uses are useless. How can a 1/2 or 3/4" brake band stop a pickup? It can't. Most of them rust off and fall off and cause ABS to come on. Junk. And cable problems as well. The ones that work on caliper are better but still far from perfect. Still have the same cable problems in our harsh climate and a bit of pita to wind back at times. EPB has solved all of that! Smile

Dale, Dale, you should just TRY a Ferd some day.
I was ALWAYS a Cheby guy until I found this one.  It was the ONLY available vehicle that had what I wanted.  So......bite the bullet and tried it.  Now, I'm in love!

Red, I owned 7 ferd pickups while I had my tire shop. We put motors in 6 of them, some of them twice, we put tranny's in all 7 of them, some had more than 1 put in. Then we bought a Chevy with a 6.2 diesel. I put a set of brakes on it the day we got it and drove it over 300000 miles with no breakdowns. Oil was changed in all of them at 1500 miles. I am no longer a ferd owner.
