 I purchased this c.1960 ERTL D17 toy , in pieces as a project. I’m having trouble finding the rivets/fasteners for the rear wheels…..truthfully, I’m not sure what they really were or the exact size. (Wheel hole is roughly 1/4” dia. and axle hole is about 1/8” dia.) I emailed two major toy parts suppliers about 2 weeks ago and neither got back to me. So, I presume they don’t have them or didn’t understand what I was trying to ask for. I do see that there are reproduction headlights, steering wheels, wheels and even fenders….so I assume there has to be the right rivets out there….somewhere I’m guessing a hollow or semi tubular rivet was used to act as the hub in the wheel and a smaller rivet/dowel/pin was driven through the back side of the axle. (as the wheel hole is larger than the axle hole.) Or maybe it was all one rivet, like a shoulder type with too different diameters on its shaft….but you hardly see those offered anywhere , unless a special request is made and like 100+ are ordered. I know there’s about a 1000 ways to reattach the wheels. Like, I could drill out the axle hole the same size as the wheel and use a threaded barrel type rivet and bolt them back on. But , I’d prefer not to alter anything if I absolutely don’t have too and keep it original. Anyone on here ever restore one of these or know what type/size fastener to use or the best place to ask? Thanks.

| i know this not the place to ask. but how about boxing it up and selling me what you have. wore out many a d17 in my time. it will be easier to put tires on rims before attaching to tractor. be very careful with front axle they are not as strong as a person might think. my brothers and I made a jig to hold the back side of rivet while penning over the outside of the rivet, if you were to stay original. if not you could use a press on nut to hold the rivet and wheel in place. before putting the tires on, we warm the rubber by placing one tire at a time in boiling water. made them more pliable. good luck. |

| talk to someone that has a small metal lathe, maybe they can machine you an axle from a small bolt? |

Success!! Yep, Dakota Toys has them…..I couldn’t find them using their website’s search engine no matter how I typed it in for the life of me. But, they emailed me their part number and they came right up! Definitely going to order their print catalogue too as soon as it’s available. Thanks all
