D262 is flat top. D262T will have reliefs cut in them for the valves to clear- With that said I have seen D17 Diesel Pistons in a D19 Turbo tractor-which is fine as long as you use the D17 cam with them

overhauled a D19 a couple years back. only D17 pistons could be found. had the valve reliefs cut into piston to match oem and ran D19 camshaft. runs like a top.

the D19 used 2 cam grinds one early 1 late and had less compression because of the turbo. early ones were hard starters so they tweaked the cam profile. thats what i recall from researching to get ours done. Dr. Allis might have some additonal input on it. Im surprised you could find parts, i didnt think anyone was makine 262 kits anymore? we ordered some of the last 262 stuff Norm had and kept on the shelf for a couple years before the rebuild.

I have very little experience on those engines, and what I do have ain't pleasant. I thought the original D-19 pistons were 15 to 1 compression ratio, while the D-15-17's were 16 to 1. To use 15 to 1 in a non-turbo engine wouldn't make the HP and wouldn't run as nice, like doing some blubbering under light loads.
