Guy close by has a IH 1700 for sale. Says it runs great, drives great, dumps great. Uses it for a site truck moving mulch. Says it needed brakes when he bought it and couldn't find parts so he swapped them to Chevy 3500 brakes. Any thoughts on these trucks? I haven't seen it in person but the pictures look good. He's asking $7500 and to be honest it looks 5 times better than c60 and c70 Chevrolets that people are asking $3500 for. I know parts aren't easy to come by but what else? Use for me would be a farm dump truck until my current spreader truck won't go any farther then it becomes my spreader. Might be next year might be 10 years

Sorry to say will be a modifications cow.

All medium duty truck lines from Early to late 80s and into early 90s are seldom supported for parts anymore. My work on GM square bodies from mid 80s told me to walk away from them as small stuff as Exhaust or brakes components not on the wheels ae becoming as Unobtanium as Allis Industrial is.
Juice brakes parts other than conversion to Bendix disc are slim to none unless have a local rebuilder that can reline what have. Drive line E-brake parts were discontinued several years ago.

I bought an old IH semi tractor, was an ex-military truck. think it was a 1968 model, only had just over 2000 miles on it, it was just like new, only thing was the paint was faded, but that's normal for military paint looks. ran like a charm, used it for a couple years then someone came along and offered me boo-koo bucks for it, they drove it home, it's still in use pulling a grain trailer to the elevators. don't remember the model number on it tho. my neighbor also has a dump truck about the same vintage, he uses it almost everyday in his construction business. doesn't seem to have much trouble with it.
