I'm installing a new clutch cable in a 7050 series. It feels dry. Should it be lubed for longer life or is dry better. What lube are you using. I was thinking atf but will it attract dust and make it worse.

What's your experience?

Liquid graphite with a cable lube injector. It goes in as a liquid and leaves dry graphite powder behind. Injectors are available online, and at motorcycle shops. Many new "Morse" type cables have a nylon interior jacket and are marketed as not needing lubed, but it never hurts to relube them.

Leave them dry, any liquid lubricant will attract dust, and cause it to wear out faster. Now, if the calble is starting to cause problems, and I don't have the time to replace it right then, I will try to work some powdered graphite into the cable to get by.

If that new clutch cable is of good quality, the clutch pedal will push easier than it did before !!! And it will last another 20 yrs or more too.
