I purchased a D14 and want to change the transmission fluid. In the Specifications section of the manual I have from AGCO under transmission it states capacity 16 qt E.P. 80. Under Clutch (Transmission) it states Capacity 10 qt of either SAE 10w or 20w depending on temperature range. Under Final Drives it states 1.25 pt each with no fluid rating. Under Hydraulic Pump it states Capacity 9 qt US SAE 10w or 20w depending on temp range.
     Can someone simplify this for me? I found three dipsticks, one on the transmission housing, one that is under a bolt head on the left side in front of the transmission housing in next section (would not have known it was a dipstick if it hadn't been loose)and one I am assuming is the hydraulic fluid on the right side.
     I'm confused and need guidance!

I've been using 'universal tractor hydraulic' oil in both my D-14s for 6 or 7 years and all is well.Best price might be Wallmart or TSC.Let's face it , a 50 year old tractor won't care whether it's $50 or $200 a pail oil !!

From front to back... right dipstick is for the hydraulic pump,then the tranny, then the read end.
If the hyd. cyl for the lift is leaky( a common problem) the rear end fills up and the brakes will get wet.When you check the front dipstick( hyd pump section) if it's low or mysteriously disappears, it's a sign the hyd. hose or cyl seals are going....
If that happens( my 57 has) then you need to split the tractor apart,replace the hose,rebuild the cylinder,replace axle seals,clean or replace brake linings,etc. or....buy another D-14 like I did ! One day I'll fix the 57.....
When the rearend overfills, just drain into a 5 gallon bucket,let sit for a few days, filter it and reuse it.It really doesn't go 'bad'.
I just fillup until dipsticks say full.

I'm so glad you asked the question about the dipsticks. I'll have to go back and look for the 3rd.

I see one positioned at the engine and then another about half way on the right side (if you are sitting on the tractor}. Is this one for the transmission fluid check?

Here's my question for today: Is the "Power booster" the same as the high/low range say for a MF135?

The long handle on the right is the “power director” . Lo range when pulled back, neutral with it in the center and hi range all the way forward. You can shift from hi to lo or visa versa on the fly by pushing and holding the thumb button lever down and shifting the lever either forward for high range or backward for lo range.

It gives you hi/lo range for any gear selection including reverse. For a total of 8 forward speeds and 2 reverse.
