So for those who'd like a little more explanation before clicking...

This Chicanic video episode, Breanne explains how multi-fuel dispensers pose an elemental risk of loading your sensitive engines with ethanol by virtue of whatever is in the dispenser's hose from the previous customer.

The thing we should all keep in mind, is that when you're taking your chainsaw/weed trimmer/hedge clipper/lawn mower/roto-tiller/outboard motor gas can to the station pump...

Set it to ethanol-free, and stick the nozzle in your car or pickup for a couple gallons BEFORE filling that little can.  The dispenser's hose and valving will hold about a gallon of that E85 that the guy ahead of you was pumping, and you'll wind up with your expensive saw getting eaten alive by high ethanol content if you don't purge it out FIRST.

The 'ripoff' part that the class-action suit refers to, is that the first gallon you get, is NOT what's advertised or selected on the pump, but the big story isn't the part about paying full price for that first gallon of 'not what you selected', as it is paying full price for a substantial repair for your expensive power equipment.

Excellent information.  Ethanol free is hard to find in my area.  Since I don't use much ethanol free fuel so I always pay more and  buy the pre-mixed stuff.  Never had a problem.

One station we used to frequent had specific pumps and discharge lines for specific grades. Was a Shell station but I believe they replaced those pumps some time back.
