Take the hood off so you can get a proper wrench on it mine came right out.

I've not changed very many but hood off is the first step. Lots of penetrating oil would be a smart second step, allowing it to creep into where it needs to be. I guess a really stubborn one could require some very careful torch heat to loosen the hold. The old gauge is junk anyway, right ?  Take a cutting disc and whack off the gauge body to just above the nut and very gently use an impact wrench to very lightly hammer away with a six-point socket. This of course after using liberal amounts of penetrating oil and letting it soak.

I must have got lucky, mine came right out on the CA and the WD. I used Kroil and let it soak overnight.

It's been a while but as I recall soaked good and then used a good Vice-grip and may have even used that trick of slight tightening it and then backed it out.  I'm pretty sure it was an original on a WD 45.

My wd one came right out, but I had the tractor running before it did it…

I've always done like Dr Allis said and cut off the stem.  Soak them good and put a socket on it.  If I have to save it for some reason I would probably try a line wrench.

I've changed two or three of them, don't think a line wrench will work, had that thought. What worked for me is a knipex tool, called a pliers wrench. Kind of a cross between a crescent wrench and a pliers. Your mileage may vary. The Dr. has a good plan.
