We had poor short beans here this year and they are always a struggle to cut without feeder beater issues. I'd watched all the posts about modifying the headers to handle the beans better and decided I'd start with the Dr's suggestion of moving the auger up and out all the way. It made an incredible difference! Did it to 2 different headers and only slugged twice all harvest and that was due to a whole series of field conditions all stacked against it. I would definitely recommend that as a first easy step for anyone struggling with short beans and a series 3 header. Thank you!

Pretty amazing what that adjustment will do, isn't it ??   Back in the early 1990's I was struggling on an R-50 with a 315 flex header and short beans. John Keller from AGCO gave me this advice and I was having a hard time believing it would help, but boy was I wrong. As far as I'm concerned, if you always do soybeans, just leave it that way for short or tall ones.
