My Old Allis News came today. I sure do like the back cover. Narrow front XT and 780 chopper and Allis silage wagon. Wish I could find a direct cut (mower bar) head for my 780. I could then use it to chop oats for silage. Tom

The Direct Cut Header for the 780/782 is very rare.  I have seen one Forum member post a pic (see link below).

https://www.allischalmers.com/forum/topic158895.html" rel="nofollow - 780 forage harvestor - AllisChalmers Forum

If you were closer, I would gladly lend you mine so you could cut your field of oats for the silo.  The Header is in Ontario, halfway between Toronto and Montreal.

Ford sold a 680 forage harvester (identical to the 780/782), so perhaps you could include that info in your search

Good luck with your search

My grandfather had one on his 780. At one time direct cut heads were very popular in western MD,PA and even NY. I have one for John Deere 35 chopper but would like one for the AC.

There is a nice video on youtube of this combo chopping corn-much better than looking at still pictures-LOL. VERY close toss up between the sound of the 190 working vs the chopper singing as the corn went through it. Always loved everything about corn chopping season.

Haven’t got my copy yet but it sounds like the XT, chopper, silage wagon that was at the MD GOTTO. Those boys put on a nice demonstration. That chopper really made the XT bark. Nothing like hearing a 301 turbo sing...music to my ears.
I met David and Heidi at their booth. It was nice to meet them.
