Wrist has been giving me fits since I broke it in June. Thumb is numb most of the time, others except my little finger will do the same randomly. At night is really when it will light me up. Feels like my hand is on fire, can't touch anything because it feels like I'm picking up a hot skillet and not by the handle.
Had a test done where they put pads on my fingers and shocked me and he graphed it, oscilloscope. Stuck some needles in and did it again. Yep you have carpal tunnel. Suggested surgery. Went to see the doc handling this says yep I would suggest surgery.
Can anybody tell me anything about this? The way things are going the way it is ain't going to get it..

Had carpal repair done to right hand, basically split heel of palm down lifeline crease, then split the sheath on the tendon tunnel. Takes about four to five weeks to let it heal appropriately.
Carpal can affect the thumb thru middle finger, outer two, ring and smallest are strictly spinal issues as no tendon tunnels cross those nerves.
May want to speak to a neurologist besides a hand surgeon, sounds more as that have damaged nerve into hand not so much carpal with broken bones, the surgery win’t correct that as I do have that in Left hand where little finger is numb to touch on outer surface, feels like being stabbed or burned if bump it there as has a nerve damage at last joint for it in palm.

I’ve got moderate carpal tunnel. Surgery was an option. I saw a occupational therapist. She helped a lot. Put cushion steering wheel covers on everything. Also anti vibration gloves helped. Maybe those kind of things will help until you figure something out. It’s a big problem. Effects everything.

That's basically what they both said. Dealing with KS work comp. Not the best to work with. Just half my ring finger is involved seems like. Helps if I wear a brace at night but only lessens the issue.

The pinkeye finger numb is generally not the carpal tunnel. I have that and just living with it, but dose not have the pain my wife had with carpal tunnel.
She has had both done 20 years ago by now. Was no big deal, and she is not a go see the doctor kind of person.

I had my right hand done last year and the left this spring. Two of the best decisions I have ever made. Both incisions were about an inch long and the actual surgery was maybe 20 minutes. I had a desk job at the time and was back to work in a week when I could drive. Had to watch out for how I used my hands for a while afterwards, but with what I was doing yesterday my hands would be worthless today if not for the surgery. Take the hit now and enjoy the lack of pain later on!

I had it done a few years ago to my left hand and would recommend it to anyone. Sure beats the discomfort and pain, you can't even see the scar, after 2 or 3 days all pain from surgery went away.

Seems both wrists have problem but for last 10 years I use a brace on both hands at night . Tried brace that holds thumb immobile for a while but now went t obraces that allow thumb to move and a lot more comfortable . You can also get a soft brace wrap during the day that just limits some wrist movement , used that when driving for quite a few years , or just a wrist band type that pust some pressure on wrist joint .

Not Carpel T, but the muscle between right pinky and wrist will go into 'Charlie Horse' mode often. Deep vee , maybe 1/4". Looks real painful to others, I just shrug it off...'oh that ,again'... Doc in the late 70s sad i have 3 options. 1,go under the knife (hmm, could be a limp wrister if NOT done right) ... pass, 2)pain pills and muscle relax pill (only MASKS the problem, could damage hand worse , I'll pass , 3) STOP using it..take a break. OK I like THAT option ! I don't swing a hammer anymore, use air nailers and screwguns AND take lottsa breaks ( doctors orders...)

Went the wrist wraps quite a while until they did little good. Mechanic and large handwheel valve manipulation got the best of my hands.

Got the surgery yesterday. Was there 6 hours for a 10-minute procedure. Paper work issues. No one seemed to have there chit together except the Doc. Went to the pharmacy to get pain meds and no one had any. Went to 5 and the last small backwoods pharmacy did. Don't really need much but if they are going to hand them happy pills out I'm going to take them. Doesn't cost me anything.
It's not that bad. 3 fingers are numb and the palm of my hand is a little sore. Shameless can crank his machine up cause I'm not going anywhere.

All that will correct pretty quick, my carpal surgery as noted was just a few minutes, slice hack split and stitch all done but the wrapping!!
Mine has been great since and that in 2017. Buddy of mine cannot thump that area today as sends shooters down his arm, I still use mine for a hammer unimpeded.

Make sure you do every thing doctor says for recovery. Including massaging your incision. And don't over-do it or rush getting back to work with your hand.
I had to have BOTH my arms done and didn't do everything by the book and now I still have issues, though not as bad as pre-surgery. Messaging is very important to avoid hard scar tissue afterwards.
