as the price of gas goes up, people might start driving less.. so DEMAND drops ...... Still need diesel for trucks to make deliveries to stores and factories, so constant demand ?????

Yep, the price of motor fuels is higher than I've seen in my lifetime, however NO-ONE is driving for better fuel economy as we learned to do during the oil embargo of the 70s.
Today while on the interstate I was going the speed limit (65mph) in the right lane and the left 2 lanes looked like the Indy 500. Also there is never a gas station that isn't nearly packed at the pump to get fuel.
Every fast food or coffee house has a line all the way around the building with cars idling (wasting gas, I wonder if "the gasbag" is in one of those lines?) waiting for overpriced food and coffee. And everyone says our economy is in the toilet, not from what I see with everyone having money burning a hole in their pockets and buying anything they can. I just talked to someone a few days ago bragging about paying over $40K for a Toyota pickup that I would not even call a pickup. He had an air compressor, a tool box and a couple of wagon spares in the back and the rear springs were bowed over center.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

Back in the 80's when GM tried turning their SB V8 into a diesel that looked Ok for the first few years the price of taxed diesel and gas has been much closer to the same. I want to say as early as 2000 ,87 octane has been cheaper than diesel. It has only gotten worse and by 2016 or so premium gas could be cheaper than diesel.  So nothing new jay, at least in the Land of Fruits and Nuts.

In my travels today went by 5 gas stations 87 was $5.40 to $5.20 and did not pay good attention to the other  but know diesel was well over $6 maybe 6.49 and that the highest octane gas was under $6. So it is real hard to figure driving a diesel pickup is going to save you money today.

crazy thing is gas and diesel were the SAME about a week ago, now gas is 40 cents a litre cheaper ( +-$1.60 a gallon ) !!!!! That's a HUGE percentage difference in price.

Called squash Johnny Taxpayer. Every thing that is shipped is by diesel which is generally every thing. Inflation goes up proportionately.

It's sad because diesel used to be a by product that was cheap till they started making diesel pickups & car and the oil company got greedy

So far have heard CO, CA and WA states had to SHUT off Tesla Charging stations, in CO for lack of paying the BILLS, in WA and CA for lack of available power.  In GA this last week a series of issues with Tesla Charging stations left ONE STATION with six chargers to feed a group of owners that grew to 45 vehicles awaiting IN LINE for HOURS to gain a recharge, my Lib niece noted she could not even imagine a Charging Line but she is also too young to remember Gas Lines in the 70s.

There is a Tesala that got in a flood down in Texas. Car flips it looks like bought to rebuild Tesala was not cooperating so they did their own improvises, dropped a Chevy v8 engine in it . Having lots of fun going to car shows. Not a back yard build, everything top end. They may have more than just one you tube on it.
