I'm looking for somewhere to get the Packing for the rear Cylinders on my D-10 reasonably. I ordered them from my closest ACCO dealer and tried to be clear on what I needed. When they came in they were wrong so I went there and showed them exactly what I needed. 75 bucks for a very simple packing gland? That would cost me 150 bucks to replace the packing. I would rather replace them but I can buy a lot of oil for 150 bucks when it is just a drip. I hate the mess but unless I can find something way cheaper I guess I'll deal with the mess. Any suggestions? ------------- Nat |

still leaks. I pulled it and the ID is worn too much to seal completely ------------- Nat |

I am wondering if an O-ring in the groove would help force the inner lip of the gland to seal around the ram ------------- Nat |

Nat im not 100% sure what cylinders you are working on, but you said you tried to TIGHTEN the nut, so i assume it is a CHEVRON or SQUARE Packing set..... there may be an oil seal on the outside edge that is a WIPER to keep dirt from getting inside... That is not the seal..... There have been a couple guys recently buy After Market Chevron sets and rebuild the rear lift cylinders of the D series tractors.. Maybe they will chime in here... All you need to know is the ID and OD and how many rings you want...pull the rod out of the cylinder and see if it looks like this.  https://www.sealsales.com/packing/vpacking.html ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |
