I am sure it has been talked about before. But what are some of the bigger 226 builds out there? And what is to big?
We are pondering the idea of a 485 cube.

Let us know how that works out. I've heard of some in the 440 cube range and also heard they maybe don't last all that long. Both will require custom rods or rods much smaller in diameter on the crankshaft end. Bore max for me is 4.630" and the block eventually splits down the middle.  I've gotten by for years at 390+ cubes with a ton of compression.

One concern is can i feed that kinda cubes with a leroy head. We cant run custom intakes or heads in D3 as of right now we are going to try 4.875 by 6.5.

Don't know how you'll ever get a 4.875" bore unless the LeeRoy block is better than a D-17 block.

4.600 bore, 6.250 stroke.
Mine is 4.600 bore 6 inch stroke. A lot of air flow work.
Really good cam. 290 lbs of compression low 120's for power.
18.4 x 34 tires

You cant make one that big. We have a 226 that is has been bored and stroked to 419. and it is about the max you can safely build one in my opinion.

If you filled the water jackets with liquid cast would that help strengthen the block??

The 426 is 4.625/6.3125. the 450 was 4.75/6.25. The 426 was easier to keep running. The 426 is built inside a 201 block. Have plans on going to 6.375 on the next build and keep a nice size journal.

How are you keeping the mains intact and not tearing themselves out of the 201 block? I do not mean that sarcastically, I have one I’m trying to figure that out on right now. I’m assuming billet main caps, but I’ve been warned that my 391ci is going to pull the mains out.
