Are they the same or is there a difference between the 2.

They would interchange as an assembly, as they are the same ratio. If you look thru AGCO parts, you'll find there are many things that have different part numbers on them. So, they changed things over the years for more strength and durability.

Heaver gears and a lot stronger stub axel. WD  will twist axel once in a while, but have never saw a D17 axel twisted.                       MACK
