Working on a D15 series 2 with a Stanley muffler. The muffler hits the side of the hood. Could this be because of the Stanley muffler or due to the manifold possibly being machined down? Solutions? Anyway to space out the manifold? Looks like the manifolds sold online require an adapter to mount the series 2 muffler. |

Yep...Stanley muffler Yep...You could make a plate and use two gaskets to space out the manifold. Option #3 live with it. OEM manifolds were threaded for a pipe stub. My D15II just does barely clear the muffler. You might try to see if your hood & radiator shroud parts will shift to the left a smidge. ------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Thanks Paul! I didn't even think about adjusting the hood. I'll try that and order a Nelson muffler and see if I can get it. |

Had the same problem with a Stanley Muffler. Gingerly with a hammer tried to modify the base of the muffler. Couldn't get enough clearance, so made an angled cuts to the input tube to put an offset of about 1/2" and welded back in place. Went to the autoparts store to get a short length of exhaust pipe for the offset "length". Works great, just something that isn't shared if you purchase a Stanley for use on a D-15. | So, the exhaust pipe connection on the bottom isn't even "centered" in the muffler body ??? I'd demand my money back from the supplier and take that money and buy one that fits. |

| OK. My bad. Been a while since I looked at the muffler/hood relationship on a D-15 s2. Regardless, if a Stanley doesn't fit, you should ask for your $$$$ back. |

The Stanley won't fit with a offset piece of pipe. I did that on a couple before Alex had the Nelson reproduced. Tracy ------------- No greater gift than healthy grandkids! |

Thanks for the pictures Alex and thanks for calling me back and getting the Nelson ordered for me! I had no idea the original mufflers were offset like that. It boggles my mind that Stanley produces a muffler that doesn't fit. |
