Went in for my Medicare Wellness check last week and discussion came up about Shingles shot . Couple years back it was $80 per dose and you were suppose to get 2 of them 2 months apart . Evidently things have changed as cost now is $2 per shot under Medicare now . So spent the $2 and now have a sore arm on that side to go with the other arm where I got the last Pneumonia shot I needed to complete that series . Now find sleeping on ones side is not something one can do easily with a event that wakes you up when you turn . It seems the Shingles shot in the same arm as #3 covid shot from 6 months back has left a tight feeling has aggravated that some also . Way back when I joined the Navy I remember getting like10 shots in one day and feeling about the same way - them tetanus shots left your arm feeling tight - well this is about the same but now on both sides and the tetanus went away in a day or so -this seems to be lingering longer . Must be a age thing ?

you'll be glad not to get them shingles...i had them inside of one ear, put me in the hospital with it. it was horrible! felt like my head was gonna blow up! if you've ever had an earache...times it by 9-10....whew...! shingles can hit you anywhere...just think of where you wouldn't want them! i'm sure your pain from the shot is about 8-10 times less.

I got the shots...2 a couple months apart.. last year, or was it 2 years ago... ... My brother got them even close to his eyes and came out ok but sight is a little gone. SO I was given the incentive to get the shots. I did not have any more pain than the Covid shot gave me. Yea it did hurt but not for days, only hours or one day...

I received my Shots for Shingles, runs in anyone that has had Chicken Pox and only needs some little nudge to set them off.

Well last night was first night I could sleep on that shoulder - least when I woke up this AM I was laying on that side . Still wonder how the big change from $80 a shot to $2 for shot came about . Then what it might cost someone who isn't on Medicare is another thing .

some depends on what insurance you have..... I was on Medicare and it cost me $40. for a shot.... Wife was 64 at the time and on "retiree insurance" from my place of work.. Cost her $0.
It also depends on what DRUG plan you have and if you have met the DEDUCTABLE that year.

For a long time, Medicare wouldn't cover it at all and it was 600. Plus the old vacine wasn't very effective. Didn't realize vaccine was made in China. They certainly aren't doing well with their covid vacine. Still, a case that involves an eye will blind it. Good discussion to have with your primary care md

I had shingles a few years ago. If you ever had them, you would have no hesitation about getting immunized.

Neither Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) nor Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) cover the shingles shot.
Medicare prescription drug plans (Part D) may cover all commercially available vaccines needed to prevent illness, like the shingles shot. Check your individual insurance plan to verify.

I've just gotten over a case of Shingles. Was on my right side from just above belt down to ankle on outside. IMHO, it hurt worse than having a broken leg from a wreck or having quadruple heart bypass surgery. Took 2+ weeks 3 trips to Dr., now that sores are healed I'm calling tomorrow to get Vaccinated. Personally I don't care what it costs, whatever Medicare or Supplemental don't cover I'll pay if it keeps me from having it again.

Just turned 60 about 15 years ago and got them. People said they looked like a pretty bad case. I thought not much to it. My back has hurt all day every day worse than that for years. It's just mind over matter.

Dad had them for years. He had an old medical book and was using the recipe out of that to home treat himself. It sorta kept them knocked down. Mom had to take him to the Dr. Doc couldn't believe what he saw. He gave dad a shot and had him come back a week later for a second shot. That did dry them up. After dad passed I had to take mom to the same Dr. Doc still remembered dads case. We talked about it for a minute or two.
