Hi im trying to figure out whether my 2900 engine has copper sleeves on the injector or not.
Its leaking antifreeze from around the injector on #1. No coolant in the oil or coming from the head that I can see.
I am going to pop the injector today and see if its got sleeves or washers.
If it has washers do they just need to be replaced to stop the leaking? If its the sleeves in it does anyone know what tools I need to replace them. I only have the manual for the 7020 which the tractor is but the previous guy replaced it wih a 2900 engine.
This is going to be a whole new fix for me. Never done anything like this so any help the better.

Just because it is such and such engine, doesn't mean the cylinder head is what it was originally. Old school has a copper washer on the end of the injector tip in a cast iron bore. New school (copper sleeves) are obvious once you get the injector pulled and use no gasket to seal compression. Old school leaking coolant is a cracked head. New school leaking coolant could be a cracked head or Orings around the O.D. of the copper sleeve at the very top. Either way a coolant leak means pull the head to replace or repair.

Yeah its looking like im pulling the head. Ill inspect it when its out to check for cracks. There isnt one machine shop here that will touch a allis head without the special tools. So im not sure what my next step is after that. Can you still get replacement heads for them?
