I have been having many ongoing incidents where I lose most of the incoming signal from my ISP. I am signed up for 50 MBPS on a fiber connection and at least once a week the signal strength will go from 44 MBPS to less than 10 MBPS. I use the ISP's Speed Testor and have called several times but still happens. I have also talked (several times) to my Router's (NETGEAR)Tech Service agents and they can't figure it out! I finally talked to a supervisor with NetGear and he took remote control of my PC and he updated the firmware to their latest issue (Nighthawk 7000) and it worked good for about 2 weeks and then there it goes on it's azz,,!! Called my ISP and they offered their latest router for $10/month so decided to try it. The techie hooked it up and away it went to bout 58.5 MBPS,,,WOW,,!!
Well, I was installing the new  router on wall and I try it one more time and CHIT, chit,,,it done the same thing ,,so I call em back and then he hooked up his laptop to router and presto we get 52.5 MBPS,,!!  Then he got my phone and opened the WiFi on it and my phone now gets 45.7MBPS. So he then tweaks my PC to open it's WiFi and disconnects the hard wire and gets 37.5 for several tries,,WTH, WTH,,,?? The tech tells me the ethernet  port on my PC is prolly failing internally,,,???
I'm thinkin bout taking the PC out of it's cubical and do a good blowing out of the everything insides,,as  it ain't been out for ,,,5 6 maybe 8 years,,,,,
What ya'll think  ??

Get out your dust clearing vacuum and a can of compressed DRY air and go to it .

Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

Look only as far as Providers Speed Statements, usual Language UP TO 50mbps.  Ours is UP TO 15mbps, most days will not get over 4.

Well, Coke,,decided to unplug all them cords at the rear of the PC after taking several pics with phone and took it out to garage to blow all them goonies out and there were several of them!!!!. Chit,,Was glad I did as the fan on the power supply was totally covered with them goonies,,,where do them come from,,,???  finally had to move the blowing out to outside as it got bad in there,,,!! Pulled the memory sticks out and blew all the chit under the pins while in there. Motherboard looks like new now.
Hooked everything up and she works many wonderfuls,,,,the speed tester is hitting at 50.3 MBPS and just for funs, I tried an online speed tester,,  Ya know,  just to compare with the ISP tester and both are within 2 tenths,,,YEA,,,,I'm ok now.

dont know if the BLOWING fixed the problem, but HEAT is a major problem with  circuits.. I take the computer out to the garage and BLOW IT OUT as you said, every 6 months... Do the  DISC player and DISH TV box every year also/...... clean under the refrig every couple years.... DUST BUNNIES/ GOONIES are not good for electrical.

I take my PC outside or to the shop, open it up and blow it clean at least twice a year.

DJ.....  every ISP customer 'shares' the wire or fiber or air with other customers.. The more that use 'your' wire', to slower YOU will be. it used to be a huge problem with dialup modems on landlines. The ISPs would 'magically' drop you if you were on for 'too long'. Not so much of  a problem today, except downloads are HUGE compared to long, long ago.
Blowing out the PC is a good idea but running hot affects ALL PC operations NOT just internet access.
great, guess I'll do mine now..so..if you don't here from me..you'll know why

Be VERY VERY careful using compressed air blowing them out.  It contains water and THAT will destroy your computer.  Don't ask.... it was the can type.  I'll never use them again.
