Hello hope that you all are well
Here comes the Unexpectedly delayed HD16DC update, some off you maybe remember the long story. I will only recap the short version. Health, family and a unrealistic mount of work for my dozers, resulted in a lack of time to focus on this forum Unfortunately. Therefore I make this summary topic.
Starting in the sad end, The 16 is gone I have sold her in trade with a Cat D6D, primarily because of cab safety and. Parts swapping between machines. So by my scrap handling fleet is 2x D6D and a D5B. They are matching the most parts.
The positive end of the 16’ I got it to fully functional and reliable state. I added about 1700 hours on the clock the longest run was 162 housers on 9 days only with minor breakdowns. It’s a really great machine and I wished we could have keeping her.
I will link a couple of pictures of the Machine. Please ask if you want pictures or information of the progress.
I have a lot of pictures of final drive oil seals fabrication I will make a separate topic for that some day.
Thanks.

Thanks for the update! These machines are not getting any younger and parts support and uptime is important when there's work to be done.

Morten, it's good to see a post from you. I know a lot of us were wondering what had become of you and the dozer. Sorry to hear you sold it but hopefully it has a good home. Did you ever put the AC logos on your service truck as you had considered? Take care and have a great Christmas and Holiday season!

I really like the cab, whomever designed it did a great job I might use some of the design in a cab for my 11. They really make these new cabs with every creature comfort, just pull a switch and instant porn, it is even labeled ( Look at the picture with the light switches) and of course I wouldn't need the wipers because it never rains in Southern California (request) Are the pictures in the hold of ship? Thanks Tad

The cab is from a Swedish company called Klippan they sold a lot of aftermarket cabs over here.
The porn light switch is for red ceiling lights.
Yes I can post pictures of the dozer in the cargo.

Do you have any trouble with things getting wrapped up in the tracks? I have a HT4 (D4) Cat loader that broke a track link, so I welded it up along with some others that were cracked and while doing some ranch clean up I gave it the real acid test, I ran a piece of 1 1/2 pipe between the sprocket and track all the way around, I guess if it was going to break, it should have done it then. Thanks for the pix.

So far we are lucky with track separation, we have tried it under 10 times. The cat’s haven’t snapped a link but the master bolts have snapped, it’s the alligator type. So we gave got some special bolt for that’s and it’s seem to works. The worst we had was on the 16’ one link broke and then the bushing and pin splittend, I Did a temporary fix in The ship cargo hold, I made a temporary master link from the scrap with a torch and a stick
