My Dad told me in his later years of seeing a Jeep blown high in the air from a direct hit from a German 88 gun when he was in Italy during WW2.

a buddy was lucky to get a new one in a crate like shown, this was about 15 years ago, it was numbered 0003. he was in the process of putting it together in his garage and was about 1/2 way done when he had a heart attack and passed away. his widow sold it to a neighbor for about a penny on the dollar. i've still got my 1948 Willy's. they sure are gaining value.

My dad told me when he got to Korea the jeeps they had were left behind in the south pacific after WW 2, and the gov't had the Japanese set up shops to fix them up for use.
