Picked up a 720 without an engine and have a little diesel I would like to install does anyone know what rotation the Onan had or could the pump be run either way?

Sorry about taking so long, but I wanted to look at mine first.

The guy I bought mine from had replaced the Onan with a Brigges V-2 just before I bought it. It does turn Clockwise as you see it while sitting on the seat.

What seems strange to me is that 72H has a 3 speed transmission along with a hydrostatic.

I have a loader on mine.

That 3 speed and hydro is what makes them such a sweet tractor!! I have 2 of them and I wish I had more. Still running the stock Onan’s on mine. One with 1200 hours and the other 650 hours. Awesome belly mower and sickle mower on the other one. I love those 2 brutes, they both do a lot of work for me each week. Onan’s are really good engines but they do need their regular maintenance to run like a sewing machine.

Thanks for the replies, be a bit before I get started on it, but should be a handy little yard tractor when done.

What brand diesel? Lambardini, Kubota?

Kubota, I also learned that the charge pump the shaft runs to is marked right hand or left hand rotation and can be switched to run either way.

Interesting, I didn’t know that. Keep us informed on this interesting project.
