I split the tractor to replace a couple seals that were leaking between power director and the transmission. I didn't open up power director clutch pack at all. Put everything back together and added oil now the tractor hi and low won't engage. I have power steering, loader can go up and down and PTO will engage. The only thing it doesn't do is move. When I shift into hi and low it grunts like it's sending oil but won't move. I split it again and I can't see anything that might be causing this to happen. I used universal hydraulic transmission oil, would this oil be too thick causing this to happen? Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks

The oil is fine, if it is Universal Trans/Hydraulic fluid. The clutch pack is easily air tested with a blow gun and a pointed rubber tip. One small tube applies low range and the other applies high range. They both cannot apply at the same time. I'm assuming you replaced the transmission input shaft seal, where the Power Director clutch hangs on?? There are three cast iron sealing rings on he rear nose of the clutch pack. They should have been replaced and usually the cast housing has deep grooves worn in it, so was it replaced?? If the center sealing ring isn't in there, or broken, you could have exactly what you've got going on. The steel tubes are sealed on the outside by O-rings slid on them. Are they there ??

Pressure test the power director system and you will narrow your search. I believe Dr. Allis has made a most likely diagnosis.
