A family is selling the AC collection, around 27 AC's, everything from garden tractors to a D21. Richard seems to have liked to start projects but not necessarily finish them. I know a few others like that, including me. Anyway, April 17th Severance, Colorado. I plan to be there and not have to spend a whole lot of money on a couple things. The combine is in pretty sad shape and might only bring scrap price. I'm not really looking for another project combine but I'll not let it go too cheap. |

Beware selling so many of the same common model tractor at the same time. There is only so much interest in these tractors. Too few prospective buyers for many common model units results in low bids after the first few sell and it rapidly worsens for seller(s) on subsequent units. Hopefully, between Orange Blood and I, we will be able to keep track of the prices on a lot of the stuff. Weather forecast is getting worse the closer to Saturday we get, now high 30s with rain or snow in the morning. Doesn't always have a big effect of prices but then again, most of the stuff is collector equipment, not that much that will go out to the field and work. KMAG may be correct, of course I suspect the D21 will bring good money and maybe the D15 diesel and D19 diesel. Only time will tell, like 60 hours from now..... |

I would think there is a good chance that the D21 will sell out of the area. Anyone want to predict some prices on anything? |

I looked through those sale prices, and I don't see anything crazy low, now I know the NE area does pull in higher prices than the midwest. I personally thought those prices were about right to a tad higher than what I see them go for, so maybe they are a bit low for PA. I know some people think all this old stuff should be worth high money, but that is the beauty of an auction, it sets the real price. Yes, I know there are fluke auctions, but they average out. I guess we will see what happens here in CO this Saturday. This isn't a HUGE collection by any means, but it has some nice pieces, and there aren't generally all that many Orange collectors in CO, bad weather typically raises prices as it brings money in from the field, but will it in this case. One thing that does bring prices down, is taking the valuable hoods and tanks of the tractors to sell them separate, I hate that practice, but in this case I don't think it was intentional. We will see!!!

Richard had a habit of starting lots of projects but not finishing them. I understand he had all the decal kits for the painted tractors but never got around to putting them on. A relative even offered to help him do it and it didn't happen. He was usually the guy we all bid against, will be strange bidding on stuff we tried to buy years ago but got outbid. |

I'm glad Orange Blood was there keeping track of prices, I lost track after the first 10 or 15 tractors as was talking to people and bidding, etc. It was good to see Orange again and to meet his dad. I got two, the D12 and the WF. Hauled the chopper to my place for the new owner, btw, only one tire is bad. Took us a half an hour to get it on the truck, only fell off twice, (just kidding). Orange is taking 4 tractors back to Nebraska but might have to get an export permit for the one he didn't haul, don't have enough of that model in Colorado... There were a couple of really crazy prices in the sale, an old steel wheel Oliver side delivery hay rake, in good shape, but old, $1,100! Also the farm trucks brought big money, the 55 Chevy sold for $5,000 I believe, the Fords went for anywhere from $600 to $4,000. I just watched an auction in New Weston, Ohio on Youtube tonight, it was yesterday also, had a bunch of nice looking AC tractors and equipment. Prices were a lot higher but most ran and had good tires, etc. At this point I may have the most AC tractors in Colorado with 32. Thinking I might have a sale in 10 years, it will take that long to get them all restored! |

Some more thoughts; The Model T combine sold to a friend of mine in the Longs Peak Tractor club, he's an IH guy but has a few AC's. The All Crop combine was a 60" and in looking at it after the sale, other then needing canvas's and a few minor repairs, it was in very good shape inside. All the cylinder bars had the rubber on them and the wood wasn't worn much. The MM U tractor brought $1,000 which was more then I thought it would bring, don't know if it was on the sale bill, owned by a shirt sleeve family member, came from about 2 miles from my place where I got my engine powered All Crop, 15 years ago. I kind of wish I would have kept bidding on the D19, but didn't know the history on it. Ted J, Orange Blood got a lot of the weights, we weren't sure which one you wanted, you might get in touch with him, I can bring it back to Hutch for you. |
