Does anybody have any experience with the aftermarket 9 bar concave vs the original 7 bar? are the bars closer together or does the open section extend further back? Curious on the performance of the 9 bar in wheat. Thanks Kevin

I put the 9 bar Lowen in my L3 several years ago with new bars, got them from Abiline Machine IIRC,,,I think the 2 extra bars extended further back than a 7 bar.

but man! what a difference!!,, it was a total different machine!, I run 1/8"-1/4" clearance, ~600-700 cylinder RPM, done excellent job of thrashing with little to no cracking. I have not run this in corn, the concave wires are closer togrther, so not sure how well it would work in corn, I do believe Lowen makes a different concave for a corn/wheat application,,, but I'm not sure about this...

sunnybrook is what Gleaner carried,, and they had a 9 bar also,,, I think.....

If your only doing wheat,, I don't think you can go wrong with the 9 bar...

Thanks for the info Michael, I found out that Sunnybrook has them in stock, so I think I will give it a try.

Any updates from anyone else on the 9 bar?

Always been OEM style 7 bar here, about to pull the trigger on a 9 bar for a customer and wanted to get some more input,figured I'd add to this thread rather than start another.

Luckily he is almost all small grain with it, so I'm going to say he "should" be happy, just double checking. :)

Here’s the AGCO (Sunnybrook) website, that discusses this concave. It reads that two spacing are offered 1 & 2”, so grower will need to decide which spacing is best for their conditions??
