You might find used parts--if your lucky. Nothing new available

Was a 4bttm slat  in the classifieds last few months. In Illinois so not too far.

I restored a slat plow 11 years ago and back then it took me a couple months just to find some nice used slats. Wear parts are also unique to the slat plows and are hard to find but not impossible. I think the outfit that bought out Crescent Forge as well as the Plow Man in MN have them yet.

Dave the plowman, he is your best bet. There are numerous slatted bottoms. Which plow and pics would help. HTH Tracy

There are still NOS parts for slat bottoms out there. We have some NOS slats and shins for those bottoms and other misc parts.

For sticky soils, there was less plow surface to scour, therefore the plow stayed cleaner.

And for not so sticky soils, the plow pulled a little easier due to half the surface to drag the soil over. We pulled 3 x 16's slat bottoms with our WD45 when normally it would have been 3 x 14's with a regular moldboard.

IH did, not sure if any others did or not. I think parts for red slat bottoms are hard to come by too.

Oliver had the "rooster comb" plow and Avery I believe also offered them.

Better in Muck or a high organic soil that doesn’t stay together

I have plowed with them in different soil. I never saw much difference in the job done in different soil type.
