What makes a topic worthy of "stars" ?

Reader's interest in the topic, how relevant to the category it is and whether or not the reader can remember to even give it a rating. Just my warped opinion, nothing official. I would say the rating is a lot more accurate that the product ratings. Ever notice how there are very few low ratings and negative comments on these.
