Good afternoon. I am about to trade for a an 18 hp deisel Deutz 5215 HST 2WD with 1400 hours. The previous owner claims it was runnig fine when last put away. When going to start it for a new use it made a clunk and would not start. Since they have not attepted to start it , but a guy did try to jump it, it turned over but would not start. Any advice based on this limited info? Is it a connecting rod they heard clunk, did it though a piston? Is it worth dealing with or should I pass? Told that the engine oil was checked and seemed to be fine. Thank you for any imput.

I love that line, almost at good as

Like new condition
or
Just overhauled(of course no reciepts or anything)

Sorry but just a clunk is just a clunk without more details, it could be many different things.  I would say since you are asking such a question to not buy such a tractor, especially a diesel as they can get expensive real quick to repair.
