I have an old B with belly mower which works great. The hydraulics raise and lower the deck fine but the deck tends to settle over time. I believe the pump and cylinder are original equipment and there are no leaks visible.  So I wonder if anyone can steer me to more info on the pump and how it works. Is there a one way valve that has failed or a seal in the control mechanism that has failed, etc? It is getting new final drive parts at the moment, so the pump is pretty easy to get at and it may be a good time to work on the settling problem. I have not yet removed or inspected any internal parts of the pump. Thanks in advance for any advice!

The pump does not have a hold valve. It is normal for the cylinder to settle over time.

That’s what my B does with the plow on it too.

The pump is a lifting device not a holding device.          MACK
