It was kind of high priced. It did come with a Farmall attached to offset the price though. OK, I bought the 756 then discovered the radio after getting it home. I hold little hope the radio will work but who knows.

That's the plan, engine is stuck. You don't see a lot of 756s with 38" wedge locks on them. In the short term I would like to get it going as a gasser, long term some sort of diesel. 5.9 Cummins is what a lot of people are pushing me toward, we'll see.

I cultivated a lot of corn and baled a lot of hay driving a 756 diesel for a neighboring farmer and friend.  I believe it was a Perkins german diesel engine.  Nice nimble little tractor that I hope you have good luck with.

Oh a 5.9L Cummins would be so sweet in there. Fella has one in a Oliver 1850 narrow front . I think that’s the correct model number. Anyway, it’s a great puller and rarely gets beat. Sounds awesome going down the track.

I like a little color too, makes that orange stand out real nice.
Just finished up a 660 5.9 this spring myself. Makes a nice fix

Mike, HOPE the radio works!!
Put up some pics of those fenders on the front end.  How they connected them.  That would keep a guy a little dryer on the road trips in the rain.

Not many 756's were gassers. That Cummins looks like it belongs in that 660

T Hunter, that 660 is sweet! Don't see many of them around.

Ted, the fender brackets are pretty substantial. I'm not sure about them yet, think I'll drive it with them a bit and find out.

Need to get the head off and see how bad things are.

Were you thinking some sort of pulling tractor with the Cummins repower, or just want diesel power??

I would get the tractor to run if you can. 756 gas tractors are harder to find and can be worth a little to a good IH collector.

If you want a diesel tractor of that vintage IH, look for an 856, 1256, or a 1456.

No matter what, it's a good looking tractor. Have fun with it!!

Pre-WW2 A-C tractors on steel wheels...because I'm too cheap to buy tires!

Jim, there could be a little pulling in her future, that is part of the diesel plan. I do want to get her running with the gas if possible.

A 1456 has been high on my list of things to buy for quite a while now. Problem is around here everyone else wants one too! Drives the price crazy high.

Going to try and get the head off this weekend, will report back with what I find.

Guys, my uncle found an engine for this thing! C301 gas out of a 715 combine. The price was right and it's in the back of the Dodge in the shed! lots of things have to be changed but a running gas engine will get this girl up and going a lot faster than any other plan I've had. Guessing the list of diesels I'm looking for is down to a DT360 or a 5.9 Cummins. Who knows I may like the 301 well enough to just cancel that plan.

Congrats on owning a cool vintage IH gas tractor & AC radio. That is a great looking tractor. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe your C-291’s got a bad block and/or crank?? But just on the chance that it’s block/crank are ok & maybe the C301 plan changes, heres a web link for an agkit for its original C-291.

Either way it looks like a great project. Best of luck in whatever you decide.
