Have a 49 B with a 3 pt hitch, and use a 5' finish mower, can't raise mower up unless pto is engaged.   Is there a clutch available to go between the pto and mower gear box so blades can be disengaged with pto running?  Thanks, Tim

In a word, no.  Maybe somebody has rigged one up to do this, but its not gonna be something you can find, on the shelf, or add to the driveline type applications...Wink

Guess I'll start looking for some junk to experiment on.  Thinking of an electric clutch like on a lawn mower??

Put a separate Hydraulic pump on it.  I don't know if it's ever been done, but that would solve your problem.

Separator clutch from a Gleaner L or M combine would be big enough.            MACK

That should work. Better than getting pushed in a pond.       MACK

Very clever. Any chance you could post a couple more photos to show the tensioner "closed" and the linkage from the operator's seat? Thanks.

Dave

Tim, I must say, that is an ingenious way to overcome the obstacle of getting away from the blades turning when you engage the PTO.  I'm interested in seeing how you "beefed up" the apparatus you constructed.

I think the shift "knob" is from a 46 chevy, came from some things of my Dads.
