I just got another HD5 that I didn't realize how bent up it was because of being packed with dirt. I'm stuck with it now and don't know where to start. All the pictures are more conveniently located on my Facebook page.

Sure curious as to your opinion. It must have fallen off a cliff.

Misuse, abuse, not understanding what has to move and what doesn't is why is all broken up and bent. These were not that big a dozer or loader where some would see them as a alternate to a Cat 955 that they are not and abused them trying to get that work from them.

Cracks left unattended lead to longer deeper cracks, the bet adjuster threads could lust be from loading tracks and not cleaning up during freezing weather where something WILL give eventually. The Idler yokes are supposed to float on the Idler support frames unless as just noted someone got stupid with debris loaded rails and parts started giving up.

Rails measurements and track associated parts measurements are in the service manuals, there is little one can just put eyes on and say Good/Bad. Sprockets from experience are about 50-60% worn, Idlers likely 70-80 worn given the indents from the rails, there is not much rail flange remaining where the Pin to Pin measurement is not a Eyeball guess. Rollers are not shown and those could be trashed or perfect.

some of your issue can be fixed and others just easier to find salvage parts and replace. General Gear in Idaho has a good selection of AC and is good to work with. You will have to decide what you can fix or replace and what you can live with.

I made up new adjusters to fit on my HD5B , thereads were shot in the yoke so turned threads on a rod then turned end of rod to index into area where threads use to be using a large nut to set distance and a lock plate to hold it all in place
