I’m looking at an 8030 with a bad engine. I have a 426 that came out of an L2. What all needs to be changed to put it in the 8030

Flywheel, front plate either needs to be swapped or some ears made to fasten it into the frame rails. Which fuel system do you want to use?  If you keep the Rossa system from the combine, then fuel lines and throttle linkage will need to be changed. Also a wire would need to be added to turn the Rossa pump on. And, if you want to use the Bosch system, then the injectors would likely need to be changed too. I suppose that the oil pan and pump could be left alone, but if you change out the front plate, I would probably just use the tractor stuff. There's always more to it than just a direct swap.

front pulley may be different as well.   L2 had 2 depend on SN and were either 3 or 4 groove. If I am not mistaken the front plate will fit - there were 3 different ones of them on the 8030 and the chances of your 2 being the same is slim - but possible - I would swap the entire engine, adapt for the electric shut off  - and change the front pulley if necessary. Change the flywheel and rear seal and wear ring.  The exhaust manifold is different and some L2's had the smaller .8 A/R housing rather than the tractor .96 A/R - which I would use. No big deal to swap. Your oil filler may be an issue as well. I put a combine engine in a 210 and XT and got a surprise come first oil change times... dumb me... not a fast learner.... there is a different gov setting on the combine - but you should not notice much difference. The L3 were about 160 hp  + or - a few.
