Pulled the head off my 3700 engine for my 210
to replace rings and rod bearings because it had
a lot of blow by.
Glad I did because when I lifted the head off found number 3
piston had the edge burned off and a pencil sized hole in it
and number 4 sleeve doesn't look very good either.
Thinking it will be best just rebuild it now and do it right.
Couldn't get woodruff key out of the crank so I decided to stop
for the day and maybe get some idea's on best way to get that key out.

Lay a piece of steel at side of key and weld together. Then work it out or drive chisel under the steel. MACK

Got the key out this evening and went ahead took the front cover off.
Now just know that it's been at least 25 years since I was in the 3500 engine so it's been a day or 3 since then.
I need to get the lifters out next I think then the cam.
Things are crude at best in my pole barn so not sure yet how to go about getting the crank out without any damage.i don't have fancy hoists or lifts,just a cherry picker and a compact tractor with loader to lift things.
I also have a question about using 466 rods in this 3700 engine,any one ever heard of or done this.

Just use the ARP rod bolts... other wi$e...... why are you pulling the cam ?

Not sure which 466 rods,i was talking to the neighbor one evening and asked him about stroking the engine and what not and he just mentioned using 466 rods I thought because he said they were shorter.
Pulling the cam and stripping the block down to do a complete rebuild.

The length of the conn rod doesn't change the stroke. A conn rod with a smaller rod journal diameter will allow you to regrind the crankshaft off-center for a little more stroke. You do not want that in a farm tractor as the crank won't last very long before it breaks.
