Whats the ground speed of a 190 xt without a Powerdirector say in 2 nd gear ? Is it the same as 2 nd gear low side ?

If there is no Power Director clutch assembly inside the tractor, someone has made a coupler to connect the transmission input shaft to the torque tube gears. So, depending on what they did/made, it could be direct drive (HIGH) or under drive (LOW).

Wouldn't direct drive be better ? As in turning less gears etc

would be more "efficient" but only slightly and without the motor to turn it it wouldnt be any better

Interesting last comment as without a motor its just gonna sit there !!Lets break it down,,   My fault as the Power director clutch is out of the tractor and a coupler installed,,, will high side be less resistance on gear turning? And 8 th be the true 8 th?

haha, yes as the Dr. said  High is direct and low is underdrive, so 8th would be 8th not 7th in direct.   Turning a strait shaft will be easier than 2 geared together and my motor comment was referring to not enough motor as in pulling in 8th vs 7th.  Smile

takes a lot of power to pull direct! Hence a lot of motor! lol! Some tractors just cannot hack direct, so the option of running it in "7th" gear will help it pull better. Speed selection in pulling is usually dictated by the available hp!
